Overview

Created in 1999 by Fabien Bonillo, les "Puces du Design" is the first European market exclusively dedicated to post-war design. Since then, the event has earned the reputation of a major event on the international scene of vintage design and welcomes exhibitors from all over Europe to gather and gather the widest panorama of the creation of the twentieth century. oOn the occasion of the 35th edition, the "Puces du Design" take a new impetus with the studio 5•5 which take the art direction of the invent

Strategy

By taking the artistic direction of the event, 5•5 reinvents the concept of design fair by proposing a pleasing scenography, a tangy identity and a program that opens new fields and reminds us that design is not just furniture.

More than a place where you come to buy design, we want to make it a place of life and exchange. We want to give a strong cultural dimension to the event and reinforce the interactivity between its various actors, always putting the public at the heart of the device.

Branding

There's something for everyone at the Puces, a surprise at every stand, including rare pieces that can't be found anywhere else. It is this joy of discovery that we wished to convey in the Puces du Design's new identity. The vividly coloured squares that make up the new visual design are a nod to the overlapping papers on a billboard - composed of many offerings, including a few pearls if you know where to look! A way to celebrate the richness of vintage design in the face of increasingly bland, standardized furniture stores.

Architecture & retail

Fleas, it is above all to walk, search, go from one street to another without having too much landmark so that at the turn of a stand we can find the wonder we were looking for. Despite the move of the event into an exhibition pavilion, it is this magic of discovery that we wanted to keep.
At the turn of thousands of vintage or contemporary design pieces that are found in stands organized in the manner of a village, programming has been enriched and we now find creations of young designers via the Street of Designers Makers. Further on, you can find iconic objects of design at an unbeatable price at the Designerie, which has become the new rendez-vous for bargains, or relax on the village square whose terrace consists only of icons of contemporary design with which we can leave after having a drink!

Each edition highlights a creator or a capital movement in the history of design. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth and the 10th anniversary of his death, we wanted to pay homage to Ettore Sottsass's bold, conceptual and radical design in a staging that we have specially designed. A "Zero Waste" installation that contrasts by its ephemeral character with the timeless pieces of the designer. It is therefore in an atmosphere of waste lent for the occasion by the Syctom (the metropolitan agency of household waste) that we decided to present its work. An accumulation of bales of compacted cartons from our bins and which will then be reintegrated into a recycling circuit to find a new life.

"Ettore Sottsass, one of our thought leaders, has left us with sustainable products because they were carefully developed with quality materials and a high level of detail, an approach that is undoubtedly at the root of this success. of this recognition granted and today celebrated Through this installation, we seek above all to demonstrate the role of the designer in society, a role that Ettore Sottsass has always questioned through his work"
